DAY 01

Best of Bhutan - Himalayan Heritage Tour 7 Nights-DAY 01

  • On Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu (Via the breathtaking Paro valley)
  • In Paro, Visit the Ruin of  Drukgyal Dzong
  • Then roughly one and a half hour drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.
  • Dinner and overnight at a 3-Star Hotel in Thimphu

DAY 02

  • Early breakfast at Hotel
  • Thimphu Day tour (Bhutan Post office, memorial Stupa, Budda Dordenma)
  • Visit - Changangkha Lhakhang: The popular oldest temple in Thimphu perched on a hill
  • Takin - Weird as it may sound, we will take a special time off to see an animal whose physical characteristics bear no resemblance to any other. This is Takin, the national animal of Bhutan, whose facial features resemble a goat while the lower body appears to be that of a cow. It is an endangered animal.
  • Visit to the: 13 Arts and Crafts: The Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School) where students undergo a 6-year training course in Bhutan's 13 traditional arts and crafts.
  • Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.

DAY 03

  • Early Breakfast at Hotel
  • Today begins pretty early as we head towards Punakha, a place once famed as the ancient capital of Bhutan and, even today, houses the national treasures of the Kingdom.
  • On the way visit Dochula Pass with 108 Stupas & Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Then visit to Punakha Dzong - the grand ancient capital. It is here Bhutan's Kings are crowned and the head of the Buddhist clergy anointed.
  • Punakha Suspension Bridge: After the visit to Dzong, walk up to have another adventure - Punakha Suspension Bridge. This is going to be one of the highlights of today's tour. It is known for the 2nd longest suspension bridge in Bhutan
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Punakha

DAY 04

  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • The drive to Phobjikha will last for three hours. The drive is stunning by itself. The three hours drive will take us through Wangduephodrang district where a majestic fortress stood just three years ago.
  • En-route to Phobjikha valley, we will be stopping briefly at Pelela pass to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road
  • Phobjikha is the winter home of rare Black-necked Cranes, an endangers species that migrate from its northern habitats in Tibet and Siberia. This place is known to be one of the most beautiful spots in Bhutan.  
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Punakha

DAY 05

  • This beautiful day will start with Breakfast at Hotel to experience a full day tour.
  • Then proceed to Gangtey Goempa (monastery) - This monastery is perched a top of a small hill that rises from the valley floor. The Monastery is surrounded by a large village inhabited by 140 households who take care of the Monastery
  • Thereafter visit the Black Necked Crane Information Centre Situated on the edge of the forest and wetland along the main road of Phobjikha valley, the centre has an observation room equipped with high power telescope and spotting scopes for catching the best view of the cranes.
  • Followed by Walking Excursion, After lunch, we make a walking excursion around Gangtey village and visit a local family for a tea and interact  with them  to experience an authentic village life.
  • Dinner Overnight at a hotel in Phobjikha / Gantey.

DAY 06

  • On this day we will be heading back to Paro
  • The long drive will include passing through the capital city, Thimpu
  • Then descending to the expansive Paro valley, considered to be Bhutan's spiritual heartland.
  • Pamper yourself with a nice coffee at Karma's coffee before continuing to Paro.
  • Dinner and overnight at Paro

DAY 07

Best of Bhutan - Himalayan Heritage Tour 7 Nights-DAY 07

We provide two options for the Paro leg of our tour.

  • The first option:

For those who are deeply spiritual and also love a dash of adventure, we will undertake a three-hour hike to Taktshang (Tiger's lair), the most famous temple in the Himalayan Buddhist world. The temple clings precariously onto a vertical cliff about 1,000 meters above the Paro valley floor. 

  • As a second option:

We will drive for one and a half hours to Chelela Pass (3,988m), the highest point reached by road in Bhutan. Chelela is known for its spectacular natural beauty and has hundreds of species of alpine flowers and rare and exotic birds like the Himalayan Monal, Khalij Pheasant and Satyr Tragopan. From Chelela, one can also see snow-clad Mt. Jhomolhari (7,300m), the abode of Goddess Remati, and other peaks like Jichu Dra-ke (6,950 m).

  • Dinner at the farm house with locals. If interested, the farmer will offer you a cooking class a traditional Bhutanese meal.
  • Day ends with a hot stone bath and cultural show where one can partake in cultural dance with local professional cultural performers!
  • Overnight at a  3-Star Hotel in Paro

DAY 08

  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Departure
  • Our representative will help you with exit formalities and then bid you farewell.
